Athens is the main getaway to Naxos, offering plenty of convenient options to reach the island. With ferry routes from all 3 ports of Athens, as well as frequent flights from Athens International Airport, you can easily plan your journey to this Cycladic gem.
Ferry from Athens to Naxos
You can visit Naxos from either Piraeus, Rafina or Lavrio. Specifically:
- Piraeus - Naxos: you can travel from Piraeus to Naxos by ferry all year round. During the summer, you can find up to 9 daily crossings, while in winter, there are typically 1-2 daily connections. The journey takes between 3.5 and 6.5 hours, depending on whether you choose a conventional ferry or a high-speed vessel. Ticket prices for this route range from €43 to €78 and the connection is served by Blue Star Ferries and Seajets.
- Rafina - Naxos: if you prefer to depart from Rafina, which is closer to Athens International Airport, you’ll find 2 daily ferry crossings to Naxos during the high season. The route is served by Seajets and Fast Ferries with conventional vessels and speedboats. The ferry from Rafina to Naxos takes between 4 hours 15 minutes and 5 hours 30 minutes, and ticket prices start at €43.
- Lavrio - Naxos: from Lavrio, ferries to Naxos are less frequent, with just 1 weekly crossing, typically on Fridays. The ferry company that operates this route is Blue Star Ferries with the conventional vessel Artemis. The Lavrio - Naxos ferry trip lasts around 10 hours and the ferry ticket price is €22.
Flight from Athens to Naxos
There are frequent flights from Athens International Airport to the island of Naxos all year long. The duration of the flight is around 45 minutes.
The airport in Naxos is located just 4 km from the main port. Keep in mind that you need to book your tickets in advance, as flights tend to sell out quickly and to find better prices. Furthermore, airlines have strict baggage policies and there are weight limits for your luggage.
How to get from Mykonos to Naxos
You can travel from Mykonos to Naxos by ferry between late March and mid-November, with up to 7 daily crossings connecting the two islands. The ferry trip from Mykonos to Naxos is operated by Saos Ferries, Seajets and Fast Ferries, with both conventional ferries and speedboats. It takes 35 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes to reach Naxos and ticket prices for a standard ferry ticket start at €36.
Note: at the moment, there are no direct flights from Mykonos to Naxos. Any flight between the two islands requires a stopover in Athens.

How to get from Santorini to Naxos
Santorini and Naxos are 2 of the most popular islands in the Aegean and they are well connected by ferry throughout the year. You can find up to 8 daily sailings by 3 ferry companies Blue Star Ferries, Seajets and Saos Ferries.
The best way to get to Naxos from Santorini is by speedboat as the duration of the trip is only 1-1.5 hours. On the other hand, if you are thinking of getting from Santorini to Naxos by conventional vessel, you should know that the journey can take up to 2.5 hours. The cost of a simple Santorini - Naxos ferry ticket ranges from €31 to €60 per passenger.
Note: there are no direct flights from Santorini to Naxos as well. All flights also have Athens as an intermediate stop.
How to get from Crete to Naxos
There is usually 1 daily ferry route from the port of Heraklion in Crete to Naxos from April to October. The ferry company that operates this crossing is Seajets with early departures. Traveling by ferry from Heraklion (Crete) to Naxos lasts 3 hours and the ferry ticket price for a deck seat can be approximately €100.
Note: there are no direct flights from Heraklion (Crete) to Naxos. All flights have Athens as an intermediate stop.
How to get to Naxos from Paros
Paros is just 30 km from Naxos, making it an excellent next stop for your Cycladic adventure. There are up to 12 daily crossings between Naxos and Paros, depending on the season. Seajets, Blue Star Ferries and Saos Ferries normally operate on this route with conventional and high-speed vessels.
The Paros to Naxos ferry journey takes between 25 minutes and 2 hours, and the price for a standard deck seat starts at €15.5.
Note: there are no direct flights from Paros to Naxos. You can travel by plane via Athens but the total duration can be more than 2 hours.
