Ferry operators serving routes to/from Krabi typically offer discounted fares for certain passenger categories. For example, infants and toddlers up to 2/3 years old usually travel free of charge, while children up to 11 years old are entitled to discounts with some companies.

The optimal time to book your ferry tickets from/to Krabi mainly depends on the season during which you want to visit, demand, and how flexible your travel plans are.

The dry season, extending from November to April, brings the best sea conditions and busiest travel periods. During this peak season, ferry tickets can sell out quickly. To secure your preferred departure times, we recommend booking your ferry tickets at least 1-2 months in advance.

For island transfers, such as Krabi–Phi Phi, popular departure slots can sell out fast during the high season, so for early‑morning or late‑afternoon sailings it’s best to book in advance.

During shoulder season (May and October), the weather is usually a bit rainier, but availability improves. Therefore, you can normally book a few weeks or days in advance and still find good availability. The same applies for trips during the low season (June–September). However, bear in mind that rough weather conditions occasionally lead to ferry cancellations.

First stop: Krabi Town; this charming riverside hub will steal your heart with its night markets, temples, and easy-going vibes. For a more lively atmosphere, head to Ao Nang to find seaside cafes, vibrant bars, and boat connections to nearby islands and beaches.

Just around the corner, you can find the postcard-perfect Railay Peninsula, only accessible by boat. Rock climbing, hidden coves, and sunset cocktails await!

Krabi is also your gateway to the stunning islands of the Andaman Sea, such as the Phi Phi Islands and Koh Lanta.

Here are a few useful tips to ensure a smooth ferry journey to/from:

• We recommend arriving at your port of departure at least 30-40 minutes in advance to ensure a smooth check-in process.
• Before your trip, make sure to monitor weather forecasts, particularly during the monsoon season, as rough seas can cause delays or cancellations.
• We recommend carrying some Thai Baht in cash for pier fees, local snacks, porters, and taxi rides, as card options might be limited.

Ferry routes to and from Krabi are operated by both conventional and high-speed ferries (speedboats), serving different traveler preferences and needs.

On board the vessels, there are normally indoor, air-conditioned seating areas. You can also find outdoor deck areas on some ferries, where you can soak in the sea views during the trip. Ferries from/to Krabi do not have cabins, as the crossings are usually short.

Traveling with pets is normally not allowed on ferries to/from Krabi.

Ferries to/from Krabi normally only accommodate foot passengers, so vehicle transportation is not possible.

Krabi has 2 main piers:

1. Klong Jilad Pier: just 4 km from Krabi Town, it’s the region’s main hub. You can easily access it by taxi, shuttle, songthaew, or minivan. In the pier area, you can find waiting areas, snack stalls, restrooms, and small parking lots.
2. Kong Ka Pier: this is a smaller pier north of Krabi Town, serving routes to the Phi Phi Islands and Koh Lipe, as well direct links to the airport. This is a less busy alternative to Klong Jilad Pier, but there are fewer departures available.
