On international routes from/to Venice, ferry companies frequently offer fixed discounts for several passenger categories. Generally, children up to 4-5 years old travel for free, while children up to 12-13 years old are entitled to discounted fares.

Some ferries from Venice to Greece also offer discounts for the following passengers:

• European Youth Card holders

The best time to book your ferry from/to Venice depends on your itinerary and travel season. For short trips within the lagoon, you can book tickets even at the last minute, as ferries operate frequently. However, during peak seasons (spring and summer), it's advisable to book in advance to secure a seat.

1. We recommend arriving at the port early for international routes. Boarding procedures usually start 1 hr before departure.
2. Many travelers choose to board their car or camper on ferries from Italy to Greece, so try to plan your trip in advance to still find availability.
3. The ferry journey between Venice and Greece can be long, so booking a cabin ensures maximum comfort.

6. If you’re traveling internationally, make sure your travel documents (passport or ID card) are up to date.

• Conventional ferries between Venice and Greece provide different types of cabins, including interior, exterior and suites, as well as accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities. Alternatively, you can book an airplane-type numbered seat or save money with a deck seat.

Most ferries allow pets onboard for a small fee. Small pets must travel in a carrier, while medium/large dogs must wear a muzzle and a leash.

Note: conventional ferries from Venice to Greece allow vehicles onboard, but high-speed ferries to Croatia and Slovenia do not.

The port of Venice is located between Tronchetto Island and Piazzale Roma. Piazzale Roma is the main entry point to the city and the only one accessible by car. Since the port has several terminals, your boarding area will depend on your ferry operator and route.

The nearest bus stop to the port is Piazzale Roma. From there, take the elevated shuttle train (People Mover) to the passenger terminal. If you decide instead to arrive in Venice by car, keep in mind that there are no driveable roads in the city, so you will have to leave your vehicle in one of the paid parking lots in Piazzale Roma. You’ll find restaurants, shops and cafes near the terminal.
