Best time to book
Like the rest of the islands of the Indonesian archipelago, Lombok is an excellent year-round destination. However, the dry season (May to September) is the most popular time to visit thanks to clear skies, calm seas, and optimal conditions for snorkeling and diving. During this period, demand for ferry tickets to Lombok is higher. If you plan on traveling during the dry season, booking your ferry tickets 1-2 months in advance is best.
The shoulder seasons (April, October and November) generally offer a good balance of ferry availability and sunny weather. Additionally, the islands are not as crowded during these months, so you can book your tickets a few weeks ahead of your trip.
If you plan on traveling during the wet season (December-March), which is the low tourist season, you can expect frequent rain and year. As such, there are fewer crossings, however ferries rarely sell out, so you can book your tickets even a few days before your departure.
Keep in mind that ferries tend to fill up quickly around major holidays, such as New Year's Day, Nyepi and Idul Fitri, so if you're planning to travel around these times, it's best to book your tickets well in advance.
