Best time to book
Ferries between Bali and the islands operate year-round, with some routes being seasonal, so the timing of your trip can make a difference when it comes to availability.
The dry season (May to September) is the most popular time to visit, thanks to the island’s perfect beach weather and calm seas. As demand for ferries to popular destinations, such as the Gili Islands, Lombok and Nusa Penida, is much higher during this period, we recommend booking your tickets 1-2 months in advance.
If you are planning your trip during the shoulder seasons (namely April, October and November), you will a good balance of ferry availability and sunny weather. As crowds tend to be thinner during these months, you can book your tickets a few weeks before your journey.
Meanwhile, the wet season (December to March) brings heavier rains and rougher seas, which can occasionally affect ferry schedules between the islands. While some routes are seasonal and do not operate during these months, this is also the low season for tourism, so ferries are rarely sold out. In most cases, you can book your Bali ferry tickets a few days ahead of your trip with plenty of options.
Good to know: if you are planning your trip around major holidays, such as New Year's Day, Nyepi and Idul Fitri, ferries tend to fill up quickly regardless of season, so it's best to book your tickets well in advance.
