You can also get to Lošinj by car, but you must first reach the island of Cres and cross the swing bridge in Osor (operating at 09:00 and 17:00).

Useful info: there is also a small airport in Lošinj, which is 11 km from Mali Lošinj and operates mostly domestic routes and private scenic flights.

1. Veli Žal: located 4 km from Mali Lošinj, this pebbly Blue Flag beach is among the most popular. Despite being relatively small, it offers sun loungers, umbrellas and the opportunity to practice water sports. The area is also equipped with parking, bars and restaurants.
2. Rovenska: very close to the center of Veli Lošinj, this rocky little beach can be reached on foot in 15-20 minutes. Behind it, there is a lush pine forest to seek shelter from the heat. There are ample amenities here, including showers and toilets, as well as a lively beach bar.
3. Krivica: set in a wild and paradisiacal bay, this is a beach of rocks and white pebbles that is not very easy to reach. From the hill of Sveti Ivan, you will have to walk down a steep path for 30 minutes, but it’s worth the sweat.
4. Valdarke: not far from Mali Lošinj, this small beach is located in a scenic bay with tall pine trees. You can easily reach it by walking along a short dirt path. Despite the presence of a marina, its waters are always clear and we recommend visiting it in the morning to enjoy the sun.
5. Vale Škura: located 3 km from Mali Lošinj, this wild rocky beach has very clean emerald green waters. There are no facilities, and if you're looking for a quiet and peaceful place, this is the perfect spot for you!
6. Zabodarski: among the most beautiful wild beaches in Lošinj, it is located in the Artatore bay and consists of smooth pebbles. The waters are shallow and there is a pine forest nearby, making it ideal for families. There are no facilities so make sure to come prepared.
7. Čikat: this beautiful cove consists of 3 pebbled beaches and several surfing and diving centers. The waters are blue and the area is well-serviced. There are hotels, bars, restaurants, and even a water polo field. Keep in mind that some beaches in the area are accessible from campsites.

Most of the bars in Mali Lošinj are concentrated in the main square (Trg Republike Hrvatske), while its harbor is popular for its waterfront cafes. There are also wine bars and taverns with live music.

The southern part of Lošinj is the most developed and the two main resorts on the island are Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj. 

Mali Lošinj is home to the main port, the hospital and the entire area is equipped with stores, supermarkets and various accommodation options. Veli Lošinj is smaller and is known for its cute waterfront cafes. Čikat bay is also very popular due to its beaches and campsites.

The northern part of Lošinj, on the other hand, is wilder and the villages of Nerezine or Sveti Jakov are perfect for those seeking tranquility and more affordable accommodations. The Ćunski village, located further inland, is a good option for those planning to explore the entire island. There is also a popular campground here that is open year-round.

Transportation in Lošinj

Lošinj is a 74 km² island that can be discovered on foot, by bike, car or bus. 

Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj are 5 km apart and are connected by frequent urban lines. You can also use the daily buses to move around to other places in the north and south, or explore the island by car. Keep in mind that during the summer, parking is mostly paid and the center is closed to traffic.

Since it is very green, getting around Lošinj by bike is the ideal choice. You can rent one in both Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj at very affordable prices.

If you prefer walking, however, Lošinj's hiking trails will surprise you with their breathtaking views. There are both challenging trails and more leisurely walks that can even be enjoyed with children.
