Ferry strike announced in Greece for 28th of February 2025

Ferries will remain docked for 24 hours

The Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO) has declared a 24-hour strike on the 28th of February 2025. According to the official announcement, the strike will start at 00:01 on Friday and end at 23:59 the same day.

The strike is scheduled to take place a week before the Clean Monday holiday celebrations on the 3rd of March 2025, a time when many travelers flock to Greek islands for a long weekend. If you're traveling during this busy period, it’s crucial to plan ahead and stay informed.

How is my ferry trip affected by the strike?

During the strike, ferry schedules may either be canceled or rescheduled to a different time or day. Usually, ferry routes affected by the strike are operated after the end of the strike.

The strike applies to all types of ferries. Affected routes will include those to and from all Greek ports.

If you have already planned a ferry trip to the Greek islands for those days, we suggest finding alternatives and rescheduling for a different day.

The final decisions about which ferry schedules will be canceled, which will be changed, and which will operate normally are usually announced by the ferry companies a few days before the strike.

When will the strike end?

The 24-hour strike will end on the 28th of February 2025 at 23:59. From the next day on, ferry crossings will be operated normally, unless there are new updates that you will receive via email.

  1. Avoid printing your tickets until the day of departure. Even though you might be eligible for a 100% refund, if you have already printed the tickets, you should return them to the agency that originally issued the tickets for the compensation process to be activated.
  2. Consider modifying your travel plans, if possible. We recommend you search for ferry alternatives on the days before the strike, as the routes on the days after the strike may also be affected. If you wish to reschedule, make sure you do it as soon as possible as availability may be limited.
