1. For its authenticity
Sikinos is one of the lesser-known islands in the Cyclades that have kept their traditional character intact. The island promotes alternative tourism and invites travelers who want to enjoy authentic experiences and quiet holidays, with respect to its virgin landscapes and personality.
The residents of Sikinos are warm and welcoming. Dedicated to their traditions and religious spirit, they regularly organize local festivals called panigiria, with lots of music, dance, food, and wine for everyone!

2. For its beautiful beaches
Sikinos is one of the best Greek islands for a quiet vacation by the sea, away from the city noise and the crowds of cosmopolitan destinations. Its virgin beaches captivate visitors with their blue crystal-clear waters and tranquility.
The residents’ wish to keep the island’s tourism flows under control is reflected in the Sikinos road network, which is quite limited. You can only reach 3 beaches by car: Alopronoia, Agios Georgios, and Dialiskari.
The rest of the island’s beaches, such as Maltas, Agios Panteleimon, and Santorineika are only accessible by boats that depart from the port of Alopronoia, or by foot via hiking trails.
Tip: we strongly recommend you visit the Mavri Spilia (Black Cave), one of the largest and most beautiful caves in the Cyclades, located north, under the Chrysopigi Monastery.

3. For its architecture and monuments
Sikinos maintains not only its unique character and traditions but also its traditional Cycladic architecture and cultural sites. In the island’s capital of Chora, which consists of the Kastro and Chorio areas, you can admire imposing houses and 15th-century fortifications.
Chapels and churches in Sikinos are picturesque and… uncountable! In Kastro, you can walk to the island’s cathedral of Panagia Pantanassa and the Zoodochos Pigi (Chrysopigi) Monastery.
You should definitely visit Episkopi, a Roman mausoleum that was also used as a Christian temple and carries multiple layers of history.
Tip: to discover ancient ruins and quaint chapels with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea, we recommend you try hiking on the island’s age-old trails.

4. For its tasty delicacies
Sikinos has a long history in farming and agriculture. It has always been famous for the quality of its wine, which is why its name in ancient times was Oenoe (the place that produces wine). We recommend you book a wine tour and tasting at the Manalis Winery, operating at an ecological vineyard, 2.5 km from Chora.
The island’s green beans, goat cheese and dairy, capers, and exceptional thyme honey stand out among its local delicacies. Before you leave, don’t forget to get some pasteli (sweet sesame and honey bar) and melitinia (small pies with honey and mizithra cheese).
