Ferries Zante (Zakynthos)

On top of special offers, you can also take advantage of regular discounts on Zante ferry tickets. These discounts may vary from one company to another, but in general:

• infants and children up to 4 years old travel for free
• children aged 5 to 10 and Greek university students get 50% off

Additionally, residents of the Ionian Islands are also entitled to a discount.

Usually, the prices of ferry tickets are not affected by how far in advance you make your booking. However, prices may vary depending on the season, so ferry tickets to Zante may be slightly more expensive in the summer months, compared to autumn and winter. 

To secure your spot on your preferred ferry schedule, we highly recommend booking at least a few days in advance, especially if you plan on traveling with your car or motorcycle.

Zante, or Zakynthos, is the third-largest island in the Ionian Sea. The Fiore di Levante, as it is known from the Venitian era, stands out for its rich natural beauty and landscapes, while its coastline is an important habitat for the Caretta caretta sea turtle and the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus).

The island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Ionian, which are renowned for their crystal clear waters, white sandy shores, blue caves, and impressive seabed. Among the island’s gastronomical highlights are mantolato (almond nougat), prenza (cheese spread with herbs), and its wines. Zante is also a very popular destination for boat tours, water sports, and nightlife.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip to Zante:

• If you plan on traveling with your car or motorcycle, make sure you book at least 10 days in advance, as Zante gets very popular during the summer season and major holidays.
• As the journey from Kyllini to Zante lasts about 1 hour, there are no cabins available to book. Your options are to enjoy the trip indoors, in the airconditioned lounge, or relax with the sea view outside, on deck.
• If you are prone to seasickness, consider bringing along motion sickness tablets for the ferry journey. As always, consult your pharmacist or doctor about the best solution for you.
• Ferries in Greece can get chilly indoors, so it’s good to bring along a sweater or jacket, even during the summer months.

The ferries traveling to Zakynthos are conventional and offer basic amenities. Typically, they have comfortable interior lounges with TVs where you can relax during the trip, bars with snacks and refreshments, luggage storage areas, and are fully accessible to passengers with disabilities. 

Some ferries, such as the Fior di Levante, Mare di Levante and Smyrna di Levante, also have Wi-Fi available in all areas.

In addition, ferries on routes to Zante have car decks, allowing you to travel with your vehicle.

Seats and cabins

The ferry companies generally do not offer cabin bookings when traveling from Kyllini to Zakynthos and the Ionian Islands. Indoors they have airconditioned lounges and airplane-style seats, while outside there is seating on the decks.

Zakynthos has 2 ports: the island’s main port in Zakynthos town and the smaller port of Agios Nikolaos. 

• The main port in the island’s capital handles departures and arrivals of ships from Kyllini, as well as the rest of the Ionian Islands.
• The small port of Agios Nikolaos is located in the northern part of the island and has a ferry connection to Pessada in Kefalonia.
