• Summer months (June-September): the best time to book your tickets is at least 1-2 months before your travel date to ensure you find a seat on the ferry that suits you. Keep in mind that ferry ticket prices are slightly higher during the summer months. This is another reason not to leave your booking for the last minute, as ferry companies also usually announce special offers at the beginning of summer. This means that the most affordable tickets for Folegandros are likely to be available if you book between May and June.

Here are some other tips you should keep in mind for a pleasant trip and stay in Folegandros:

• Most accommodation options are in Chora or Karavostasis. We advise you to book early, as availability is limited.
• While local bus services run frequently, bringing your vehicle or renting one is a good idea if you want to explore the island at your own pace. However, parking in Chora tends to be difficult in summer.
• The island’s beaches are mostly unorganized, and some can be difficult to access. Bring sturdy shoes, high-SPF sunscreen, water, snacks, and an umbrella.
• Don’t leave without trying local delicacies like matsata (handmade pasta with rooster or rabbit) and karpouzenia (a traditional watermelon dessert).
• Folegandros has direct ferry connections to nearby Cycladic islands, making it ideal for island-hopping! If you want to feast on beauty, take the Santorini - Folegandros route or if you are a couple, travel from Milos to Folegandros for an extra dose of romance.

On the southeastern side of Folegandros lies the island’s port, Karavostasis. It is about 3.5 km from Chora, the island’s main town, with local buses providing connections. The surrounding settlement of the same name offers tavernas, cafés, and accommodation options. 

Upon arrival at Karavostasis, you can take a refreshing dip at nearby beaches, such as Chochlidia, Vardia, and Latinaki. Additionally, during the summer, small boats depart from Karavostasis to remote beaches or offer island tours.
